Ok, so I had to add an item to my challenge. I really tried making the black tank work with this outfit, but I wasn't feeling it, and my white tee shirt is in the washing machine as we speak. For me the whole point of this challenge is to 1. utilize what I have in my closet 2. realize what I have and stop shopping so much 3. stop being such a waster. I feel like adding a tee doesn't ruin any of these things for me.
I am wearing a gray tee from American Apparel, white jeans from AE, a scarf from Old Navy, belt from J Crew, shoes from J Crew, and a vintage bracelet from a thrift store.
Not going to lie, this wardrobe challenge is tough! It took me almost 30 minutes to get dressed this morning and this is what I settled on. I don't even like it that much. Definitely thought about quitting a few times.
I got a part time office job for Mondays and Tuesdays so I will have to wear business casual clothes. I will do the wardrobe challenge for the rest of the week, though.
I am wearing a Gap denim top that I thrifted, Sevens jeans, an Alternative Apparel tee, antique coral necklaces, and a J Crew necklace.
Its going to be really hot today so I decided the tank dress was my best bet. I bought this dress at French Connection at a pre-Holiday sale last year. I like it because it is the perfect casual LBD. I decided to keep things simple and just add a pin that I got on Etsy last year and haven't worn yet and a few gold bracelets.
Today at have an interview at a clothing store close to where I live. I am wearing the zipper front dress I mentioned with shoes from DSW and my Ebay zebra bracelet. I feel like this dress doesn't photograph well, though.
I am on day 4 on my wardrobe challenge. So far so good. I spent most of the weekend in my jean shorts (which I am wearing again today). Not post worthy. I am just hanging around the house and running errands today so there is no need to be dressed up.
I am going to NYC in September for my bachelorette party. Dressing in September can be hard. You want to start wearing your fall clothes, but its usually still hot out. I like these 2 options and can probably replicate the looks with-out having to shop.
I am completely intrigued by this project, and for the next 30 days I will be wearing only 10 items from my closet and remixing them as best I can. I am not counting exercise clothes, beach attire, or PJs. I wanted to try for 6 as per the project, but I have a job interview, a shower, and engagement photos coming up so I needed to add 2 dresses (and then since I was already cheating I threw in 2 more). Jewelry/accessories do not count.
I am really disgusted by how much money I spend on clothing, etc that I don't need and I am really hoping this project will help cure some of my shopping addiction. Think I can make it? Jentine, no snide comments here ;)
My 10 pieces are: white jeans, dark jeans, a blue button down, a white silk button down, jean shorts, a white tee, a black tank, a black tank dress, a zipper front dress (the one I have is in army green), and a J Crew dress I am wearing for my engagement photos and for my wedding shower next month.
Having a non office job has been nice this summer. I pretty much can wear whatever I want...and that has been awesome since we have been experiencing the hottest summer ever! Today I am wearing shorts I purchased at Marshalls last year, a top from Banana Republic, a vintage belt from the Salvation army, and a rhinestone necklace (worn as bracelet) from Brimfield.
I will be heading to South Haven, MI in a few weeks. Here, are the items I would like to bring with me. I actually purchased the J Crew dress this weekend during my mega sale shopping trip. I am going to wear it for my engagement photos as well.
And for all those who entered the give-away, the winner is Linda. Thanks for entering guys :)
John and I did a little shopping yesterday, and to my delight I discovered many stores were having huge sales. The Gap, Old Navy, and J Crew were offering 30-40% off all ready reduced items. Here is what I got:
J Crew Necklace: $9
Old Navy scarf: 60 cents... yes, 60 cents!!!!!!
Gap pullover: $4
Don't forget to enter my give-away! I am picking a winner tomorrow. Also, I am going to be selling a few items on Ebay over the next few weeks. You can find my listings here.
Yesterday I went to Brimfield, but I didn't find anything too exciting. It was soooo HOT and everything seemed picked over and expensive. I only bought a few jewelry items. I was looking for a rhinestone bracelet and necklace so I was happy to find these 2 pieces ($5 each). The cocktail ring was free.... nice :)
I love this J Crew necklace (featured before). I feel like it adds instant glamor to whatever I am wearing. The belt I found at a church thrift store on Cape Cod for only $1. Actually the necklace was "free" because I used a gift card so my accessories today cost a total of $1. Not bad.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I am going to a housewarming party and will be doing some cleaning around the apartment.
I want to wish everyone (Americans) a fun and safe holiday weekend! I will be spending mine on the beaches of Cape Cod with John, my family, and a few close friends. I can't wait to hit the sand tomorrow!!!!
I found this amazing rhinestone bag on Ebay (where-else. Ha.) Its so sparkly and dainty. I can't wait to use it for a fun night out on the town or for dinner with John.
