April Shopping - How I Did

I wasn't saving for anything in particular in April and it definitely showed because I shopped like it was going out of style.  I am shocked/disgusted by how much I purchased, and I definitely think this exercise is helping me understand I have huge shopping issues and is showing me the importance of a shopping diet (which I am imposing on myself for the month of May).

Thrifted: A jean jacket that I made into a vest, three pairs of shorts (the jean and floral below plus one not shown), a blouse, and a clutch.  Luckily none of these items cost more than $5 each.

Old Navy: A pair of flip flops (not shown), a knitted tank, and a pair of jeans (shown with the belt below)... all on clearance

Clothing: A pair of jeans at 70% off (at the tailor right now), a J Crew cardigan on sale, and a pair of Rory Beca Shorts (purchased with a Shopbop giftcard)

Jewelry: 2 pairs of earrings from Kathleen Whitaker

Bags: The Rafe Roxy Painted Python Mini Swing Bag and a Whiting and Davis Mini Drawstring Pouch (purchased with a Shopbop giftcard)

Accessories: A belt from Banana Republic Outlet

Won: Sunglasses from Cafe Fashionista, an ELZEE Pink Sandbar Necklace from Jeana Sohn.

Wow, crazy.  In May I am going to start saving for a leather jacket and curtains for our dining room.  Hopefully having a goal keeps me on track and this list is non existent next time around.

I love that blouse, you found some pretty good things at the thrift store, I haven't been to the thrift store in a while, not that that means I haven't shopped because I have, only I've been doing most of my shopping at F21 and TJ Maxx, it seems like it's getting harder to find something at the thrift stores around my house these days. Maybe being on a shopping diet is almost like being on a hunger diet, once you lose those pounds restricting yourself you go out and indulge and end up gaining more, no? I know that has happened to me in the past when I used to go on diets (shopping and weight) so for me what works best is trying to find a balance and to really think about the things I buy. =)

Oh my gosh I love everything you purchased! Lately I feel like I am on a shopping binge as well. My roommate is moving in a few months and I will need furniture and dishes of my own! Basically I stalk salvation army for dishes and the like as often as I can! I hope to see your picks for leather jackets soon!

The drawstring bag is my absolute favorite, although the hacked up denim vest is a close second. Have you worn it yet?

How many nice pieces! I especially like the clutch and that original belt...My blog also made me rethink about the way I do shopping: even if I try to 'behave', sometimes it's difficult to resist to fashion bargain!
