Silver Lining?

So today I received some somewhat expected but still bad news. I was laid off from my job. I have no idea what to do with myself now. Where should I work? What should I do? Do I take this time to figure out my dream job? I really love antiques and would love to do some sort of business with that, but I am not sure where to start. Has anyone else been in the same position?

Some other sad news... I will not be able to visit my fav thrift stores on my lunch breaks anymore. I guess I will have to find some new ones, but thrift store postings my be sparse in the near future. Awwwwwwwww :(

I am so sorry to hear about your job. It sucks! I know the feeling as I was laid off from a job that I had been at for Six years last summer. I did eventually find a new job and I am even happier here than I was at my old job.

Keep your head up and stay postive!! You will know what to do when the times right.

I'm so sorry to hear about your job, that sucks. But do try to find a silver lining! You should deffo use the time to think of your dream job, and if you have the means to start up an antique business then you should go for it!

Brianne that stinks.

Heres what I think you should do...
I think you should take the time to build up your etsy store and sell really one of a kind stuff or some vintage finds. You could still go to your favorite stores and build it up from there.
While selling on Etsy you can really take the time to think about how you will go about your dream. I think you will do well with more Etsy stuff, you sell pretty well as it is.

I'm so sorry to hear about your job news! Somehow mid-winter seems like an especially bad time for such news.

I had the same thing happen about two years ago and I used the semester to focus on my ETSY shop -- it was the best time for my shop! Because I could focus all my energy on finding vintage, working on my photos, and updating my shop, I sold way more than I ever had before.

Maybe this is a good opportunity to for you to really focus on your antiques and store!!

I'm sorry about your unfortunate day, and please don't hesitate to ask if you ever need anything!!

Oh, so sorry to hear you're at loose ends as far as employment. You have so many gifts, skills, smarts, and talents, it will be interesting to see how they grow you onto a new path.

I'm wishing you all the luck in the world on this new venture.

I am so sorry to hear that! I am recruiting director by day and I hear about this a lot from my candidates! I say take one day to be sad and then pick your self up and think about your dream job! Now, take the time to do whatever it takes to get it and don't waste a minute doing something that doesn't make you happy. This is your golden ticket to do what you are born for! :) xoxo kisses

Oh, girl... Sorry about that. I don´t know. Thinking about a dream job is ok as long as you know that there is not a dream job! All the jobs have their pros and cons. It is inevitable. Rest some time and start submitting your resume.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your job! My husband was laid off unexpectedly a few months ago and it was very stressful. I would say, if there's something you've always dreamed of doing, do it! As for antiques, you can sell smaller things on Etsy under 'vintage' - it's one way to start a business without having to spend a lot of money. And then there's always beautiful vintage clothing - that does really well on Etsy...

good luck!
