Who Likes the Smell of Mothballs

This is another friend's Facebook photo...

Anywho, I bought this dress at my favorite vintage store the day of my friend's wedding. I wanted to wear it right away, so I didn't have time to clean it. When I got to the wedding, I noticed that the dress smelled really strongly of mothballs (and was super embarrassed). Since then, I have dry cleaned it twice and have aired it outside numerous times, but the smell won't go away! Is this a lost cause? I want to wear the dress to another wedding this summer, so I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to get the mothball smell out of it.

PS. I will be away from my blog until next week. See you guys then!!!

I'm sorry about the dress!! (the smell part, anyway!!)

The smell will eventually go away on its own. When bags come from overseas with a mothball smell, sometimes putting a few dryer sheets in them can help to take the smell away more quickly. I'm not sure how that can transfer to dresses exactly -- maybe put the dress and dryer sheets in a mesh bag and let it hang for awhile??

There is this line of natural cleaners etc. called Norwex and they have a desmeller (cause that's a proper word) that is quite good. The good news is that the dress is lovely!

You're the one in white? I hope so because I love how it stands out amongst all the black dresses.
